Happy New Year!

Journals

Well, I've been a dad for all of three years now and I've never really considered making any new years resolutions Well, I've been a dad for all of three years now and I've never really considered making any new years resolutions pertaining to my parenting or the family unit. I suppose its largely because parenting is a team effort and I feel guilty about making suggestions, or decisions about parenting styles since I “abandon” Kris with the girls so often with work- and I don't feel like I have a place to dictate what goes on in my absence.
But, I really want some things to change. And it will be hard. Hard for me to set the example, hard for me to bring it up with Kris (although she'll probably be in complete agreement and act as if I'm silly for my hesitance in talking about these changes.), and it will be hard on Kris and the girls. In the beginning. But I do think it will make life better in the near future and beyond.

A good holiday tradition for the kids...

Family

Last night, Dec 17th, Kris and I took the girls up to Cedar Park to enjoy the "Polar Express" ride of the Austin Steam Train Assoc. Train InteriorIt was a great experience (minus my frustration at holiday crowds- which was dumb since they handled it very well) and a pleasant evening where we road the train for a total of about an hour and a half, enjoyed gingerbread and hot chocolate, the girls climbed back and forth all over the place in their pajamas, were read the story "Polar Express" by girl scouts, and got a visit from Santa once we arrived in the north pole.
