So for my birthday, my wife yet again has given me a most wonderful gift!
(she's very good at this.. knows what I'd love long before I do.. just like before we got married!)

A Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso/Cappuccino Maker- Model ECM20


now I'll openly admit I am far from experienced in the art of properly preparing the sacred coffee bean. and my first experience with this machine proved it. Its documentation was slightly lacking, but with the guidance and watchful eye of my father and my neighbors, we were all able to suffer through an (almost) tolerable cup of cappuccino.
fortunately for me, this morning I finally got it right and had a wonderful cup that rivalled any place that thinks they can charge $4.50 for a cup!


honestly, I've become quite taken with this machine. it was inexpensive (very very inexpensive compared to the snobbery's high end options) and yet very functional, easy to manipulate, easy to clean, and a nice sized product that can be stored when not in use. (when ever that maybe).

The only functional down side is that you have to monitor it to keep it from blowing its steam all through the grounds, I'm told more elitest machines will automatically keep some pressure left for frothing and steaming the milk- but hey, with practice the whole things takes less than three minutes, I can wait that long, and maybe, if I'm on my meds, even pay attention to it long enough to switch it to frothing! And, as I noted, the instructions kinda missed making that point clear. that you had to stop it before it finished. but once that was made clear (thanks to the two engineers and the barrista mocking me) its a great little machine.

my greatest woe at this point is that I can't fit my 12 cup coffee pot in it. but that's a minor point. since I'm the only coffee drinker in the house.
